Reflections question 3


In your opinion, is there such a thing as 'formal email'? If your answer is 'yes', give an example of a situation/ context where will you write a 'formal email'?

  1. Yes. For example, when we received bad service upon visiting one of their shops, we would write a formal letter to the manager to lodge a complaint, in which the manager will write us back an apology letter with tis register being formal, and its tone being apologetic and polite (unless the manager feels otherwise for some reason).

  3. Yes, there is such a thing as a 'formal' letter. A formal letter would most of the time be written on an occasion when you would like to write to someone whom you have never actually met before and would like to discuss about something involving them. It usually never discusses personal issues of the writer or the reciever

  4. Yes there is such a thing called formal letter writing.It is used mainly in an occasion where you would write a complaint,compliment and someone you barely met

  7. Yes, there is. For me, I would shift into a formal tone of writing whenever I am writing to someone with importance or issues that demand I use such a formal tone (e.g formal letters of inquires)

  8. Yes, there is such thing as formal email. Writing formal emails are almost the same as writing formal letters, just that it involves use of technology. I would write a formal email to people who are of a higher authority or to address something important to the recipient.

  9. Yes there is such thing calle da formal email. For example, lets say you are writing a complaint letter to a company for a bad hospitality they gave you, you must write a formal letter to the boss of the company as firstly, you do not know who the boss is and secondly, you are writing a complaint letter to the boss of the company.
