Why do different situations call for different styles of writing?

  1. During different situations, we must apply different registor as well as tone as our purpose as well as audience is totally different. This is to make sure that there are no misunderstandings/misinterpretation going on in between the riter and the receiver.

  2. In different situations, we must utilise different styles of writing as different recipients do not have the same way of interpreting or inferring. Secondly, different recipients have different relations to the writer. Hence,different styles of writing is needed to ensure that there is no miscomprehension of the letter.

  3. In various situations we must use different styles as we write in a way that appeases the person.This is also tom make sure there is no misunderstanding between the writer and the receiver

  4. Formal letter writing is for people that you are not really familiar to and when the relationship between you and them is not really strong. But informal letter writing is for people whom you have very close relationship with. For example, you would write a formal letter to a person of higher authority like your boss and would write an informal letter to a family member.

  5. Depending on the situation, the tone and register would be different. For example, a more demanding and serious tone may be used in complaint letters, and a more courteous one when enquiring. This would affect the feelings of the writer and hence the message would be more efficiently brought across.

  11. Different situation call for different needs. One must adapt to the situation and follow flow of the conversation. For example, if you are engaging in written correspondence with the teacher, you would not go "Whassup Mr. X?!" right? That is because the situation you are in does not permit you to use such candid methods of communication. We must follow the flow and do not try to go and cause ripple, in other words, repercussions.

  12. The difference in purpose of writing the letter calls for different styles of writing for example a formal letter is usually written to compliment or complain. A informal letter is usually written to share experiences to family and friends.

  13. Certain styles of writing are inappropriate for different purposes. for example, beginning a letter of complaint to a restaurant manager with "Hello there," is really inappropriate.
